Visa Information

Important Visa Information

What is the recommended timing to apply for a visa if planning to attend FDI WDC 2023?
All visa applications should be made at least four months before travelling to Australia (that is, no later than the end of May 2023). However, it is strongly recommended that applicants begin the process as soon as possible. Visa applications are assessed on a case-by-case basis and are handled by the Australian migration representatives of your country or a neighbouring country.

The actual processing times can vary due to individual circumstances, including:

  • Whether the applicant has lodged a complete application, including all necessary supporting documents, and paid associated visa application charges
  • How promptly the applicant responds to any requests for additional information
  • How long it takes to perform required checks on the supporting information provided
  • How long it takes to receive information from external agencies, particularly in relation to health, character and national security requirements
  • When the application is lodged taking the current global visa processing times into account

For more information about visa processing times, please see the website of the Department of Home Affairs.

How do I get a letter of invitation?
To receive an FDI WDC 2023 letter of invitation, delegates must first register for the conference, pay in full and submit any required supporting documentation, if applicable. The request can be made during the registration process.
Note: Media are not required to pay to attend, but must register first.

Delegates and international media should begin the visa application process early, including requesting a letter of invitation. The FDI WDC 2023 letter of invitation does not guarantee an entry visa to Australia and does not place any financial obligations on the event organisers. All expenses incurred in relation to conference participation are the sole responsibility of the delegate.

For exhibitors, speakers and all other attendees requiring an invitation letter, please email FDIWDC2023@ada.org.au

How do I obtain a visa for Australia?
All travellers, except citizens of New Zealand, must obtain a visa or electronic travel authority (ETA) before travelling to Australia.
